MFA Press Statement: Visit by Minister for Foreign Affairs George Yeo to Switzerland and Liechtenstein, 24-31 January 2010

Minister George Yeo will visit Switzerland from 24 to 30 January 2010 and Liechtenstein on 30 to 31 January 2010.

In Switzerland, Minister Yeo will meet with Federal Councillor and Head of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs Micheline Calmy-Rey and the past President of the Swiss Confederation Joseph Deiss, who has been nominated for the post of the next President of the UN General Assembly. Minister Yeo will deliver a special address to the Swiss Asian Chamber of Commerce in Zurich. Minister Yeo will also visit Geneva, where he will meet with heads of key international organisations including the WTO, WHO, ILO and UNCTAD. Minister Yeo will also preside over the Official Opening and Inauguration Ceremony of the new premises of the Singapore Permanent Mission in Geneva.

Minister Yeo will attend the World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meetings in Davos, Switzerland from 27 to 30 January. Minister, as representative of one of the patron countries for the WEF's Global Redesign Initiative, will participate in the Informal Gathering of World Economic Leaders Session on Global Redesign and Priorities for Strengthening the International System. In addition, he will also have meetings with other leaders and senior business executives on the sidelines of his attendance at the official Davos Meetings.

After Davos, Minister Yeo will travel to Liechtenstein, where he will call on H.S.H. Hereditary Prince Alois of Liechtenstein and meet Minister of Foreign Affairs, Justice and Culture Ms. Aurelia Frick on 30 January 2010.
