Minister for Foreign Affairs George Yeo, who is in Hong Kong, called on Hong Kong Chief Executive (CE) Donald Tsang today. Minister Yeo and CE Tsang had a good discussion on the domestic developments in Hong Kong as well as the prospects of the global economy. Both sides also took the opportunity to renew the strong bilateral relations.
Minister Yeo also called on Former Hong Kong Chief Executive and Vice-Chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) Tung Chee Hwa. During their discussion, both sides exchanged views on regional development and the recent developments in Sino-US relations.
Minister Yeo will be hosted to dinner by Financial Secretary John Tsang this evening. Minister Yeo will depart Hong Kong for Shanghai on 16 March 2010 to attend the Harvard Business School Asia-Pacific Advisory Board Meeting. While in Shanghai, Minister Yeo will also meet with member of the Standing Committee for the National People's Congress, Gong Xueping.
