MFA Press Statement: Minister for Foreign Affairs George Yeo's Official Visit to Andorra, 17 April 2010

Minister for Foreign Affairs George Yeo made an official visit to The Principality of Andorra on 17 April 2010. He met with Andorran Minister for Foreign Affairs and Institutional Relations Mr Xavier Espot Miro, who also hosted Minister Yeo and his delegation to lunch. The two Ministers had a good discussion covering a range of bilateral and international issues, including regional developments in Asia and Europe, the on-going economic crisis and reforms in the UN Security Council. Both Ministers agreed to encourage greater contacts and exchanges between Singapore and Andorra to enhance tourism and business opportunities. In this regard, Minister Yeo said that he welcomed the news that the Andorran Chamber of Commerce was planning to visit Singapore next year. In response to Minister Yeo's invitation, Minister Espot said that he would visit Singapore in the near future.

In Andorra, Minister Yeo also met with the Vice-President of the Andorran Parliament Mr Esteve Lopez Montoya, who kindly brought Minister Yeo on a tour of the Casa de la Vall, the Andorran Consell General (Parliament), which dates back to the 16th century.

Due to the volcanic ash from Iceland, Minister Yeo would be travelling to Italy by road instead of by air.
