Minister for Foreign Affairs George Yeo visited the Republic of San Marino on 19 April 2010. He met with the San Marino Secretary of State for Foreign and Political Affairs Antonella Mularoni, who also hosted Minister Yeo and his delegation to lunch.
The two Ministers had a good discussion on the prospects of cooperation between Singapore and San Marino. Mularoni expressed a strong interest in Singapore's development in the last 45 years. The Ministers agreed to encourage greater exchanges between Singapore and San Marino to improve economic links and to enhance tourism and business opportunities. Minister Mularoni accepted Minister Yeo's invitation to visit Singapore. Minister Yeo also invited Secretary of State for the Industry, Handicraft and Commerce Marco Arzilli and Secretary of State for Tourism Fabio Berardi who were present at the discussion, to visit Singapore.
Minister Yeo will proceed on to the Holy See for an audience with His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI and meetings with senior officials of the Roman Curia from 20-21 April 2010.
