MFA Press Statement: Visit by Minister for Foreign Affairs George Yeo to the Kingdom Of Saudi Arabia and Republic Of India, 1 - 9 May 2010

Minister for Foreign Affairs George Yeo will be making an official visit to Saudi Arabia from 1 to 5 May 2010 at the invitation of Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs His Royal Highness Prince Saud Bin Faisal Bin Abdul Aziz Al-Saud, and thereafter to India at the invitation of Indian Minister for Home Affairs P Chidambaram from 6 to 9 May 2010. Minister Yeo will be accompanied by senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In Saudi Arabia, Minister Yeo is scheduled to call on Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and Commander of the Saudi Arabian National Guard His Majesty King Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz Al-Saud, Crown Prince and Minister of Defence and Aviation and Inspector-General His Royal Highness Prince Sultan Bin Abdul Aziz Al-Saud, Second Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, His Royal Highness Prince Naif Bin Abdul Aziz Al-Saud, Minister of Foreign Affairs His Royal Highness Prince Saud Bin Faisal Bin Abdul Aziz Al-Saud, and other key Saudi leaders. During this visit, Minister Yeo and the Finance Minister of Saudi Arabia will sign the Agreement for the Avoidance of Double Taxation ("DTA") between Singapore and Saudi Arabia, which will enhance bilateral trade links between the two countries. Minister Yeo will also visit the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology, and meet members of the Singapore Club in Jeddah.

In India, Minister Yeo will open the YCH DistriPark in Chennai Special Economic Zone (SEZ). As a home-grown supply chain solutions provider in Singapore, the official inauguration of the YCH Group's DistriPark in Chennai is an indication of the flourishing economic ties between India and Singapore. Minister Yeo is also scheduled to meet the leaders of the state of Tamil Nadu as well as Indian Home Minister P Chidambaram
