MFA Press Statement: Visit of Minister George Yeo to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, 1-5 May 2010

Minister for Foreign Affairs George Yeo signed the Singapore-Saudi Arabia Avoidance of Double Taxation Agreement ("DTA") with Minister of Finance of Saudi Arabia Dr Ibrahim Al-Assaf on 3 May 2010. The signing was held in the Ministry of Finance. The Singapore-Saudi Arabia DTA will enhance trade links between the two countries. During their meeting, Dr Ibrahim and Minister Yeo also discussed bilateral and international issues, including the G20. Dr Ibrahim was pleased with the progress in relations between both countries.

Later today, Chairman of the King Faisal Center for Research and Islamic Studies His Royal Highness (HRH) Prince Turki Al Faisal bin Abdulaziz Al Saud will host Minister Yeo to lunch. Minister Yeo will also participate in a roundtable discussion organised by the Center. In the evening, Minister Yeo will have a discussion with senior officials from the Ministry of Interior.

On 2 May 2010, Minister Yeo called on Assistant Minister of Defence and Aviation HRH Prince Khalid bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. They discussed a broad range of issues, including recent developments in the Middle East and Southeast Asia. Minister Yeo also called on, and was hosted to dinner by Chairman of Kingdom Holding Company HRH Prince Alwaleed bin Talal bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. They discussed the present global economic environment and regional and bilateral issues, including Kingdom Holding Company's joint investments with Singapore.
