MFA Spokesman's Comments in Response to the Oil Spill in the Singapore Strait Resulting from the Collision between MT Bunga Kelana 3 and MV Waily

In response to media queries on the oil spill in the Singapore Strait resulting from the collision between the Malaysian-registered tanker, MT Bunga Kelana 3 and the St Vincents and The Grenadines-registered bulk carrier, MV Waily, on 25 May 2010, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Spokesman said:

"The Maritime & Port Authority of Singapore is already working with the Malaysian authorities to manage the oil spill. Singapore will continue to render full assistance and cooperation to the Indonesian and Malaysian authorities to contain and clean up the oil spill, in line with the Standard Operating Procedure for Joint Oil Spill Combat in the Straits of Malacca and Singapore."
