MFA Press Statement: Official Visit by His Excellency Somsavat Lengsavad, Standing Deputy Prime Minister of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic

His Excellency Somsavat Lengsavad, Standing Deputy Prime Minister of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, made a courtesy call on Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong today. During the call, both leaders affirmed the warm and strong relations between Singapore and Laos.

SDPM Somsavat also called on Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong. The leaders had a good exchange of views on bilateral relations and developments in Laos, including Laos' efforts to attract investments from Singapore.

Senior Minister Goh and Mrs Goh will host SDPM Somsavat and his wife Mrs Bounkongmany Lengsavad and the Lao delegation to dinner this evening.

Tomorrow, SDPM Somsavat will grace the Laos Investment Seminar 2010 jointly organised by International Enterprise Singapore and the Singapore Business Federation as the Guest of Honour, as well as attend a business luncheon hosted by Minister of State for Trade and Industry Lee Yi Shyan. In addition, SDPM Somsavat will receive briefings by the Monetary Authority of Singapore and the Singapore Exchange, and visit Resorts World Sentosa.
