MFA Press Statement: Official Visit of Minister for Foreign Affairs George Yeo to New Zealand from 11 to 15 June 2010

Minister for Foreign Affairs George Yeo is currently in Queenstown on a retreat as part of his official visit to New Zealand from 11 to 15 June 2010, at the invitation of the New Zealand Foreign Minister Murray McCully.

Minister Yeo and Minister McCully held bilateral talks on 12 June 2010 during which they had wide-ranging discussions on pertinent regional and international developments, including the evolving regional architecture. Both Ministers reaffirmed the excellent bilateral relations enjoyed by both countries and discussed ways in which bilateral cooperation could be further strengthened. They also agreed that more could be done in the area of tourism cooperation as well as the promotion of people-to-people ties, including greater educational exchanges between Singapore and New Zealand.

Minister Yeo was also hosted to a dinner by Minister McCully in the evening of 12 June 2010. On 13 June 2010, Minister Yeo will depart for Wellington where he will continue his bilateral visit.
