The President of the Republic of Maldives His Excellency Mohamed Nasheed will make an Official Visit to Singapore from 27-28 June 2010 at the invitation of Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong. This is President Nasheed's first official visit to Singapore. President Nasheed will also be delivering the keynote address at the Asia-Pacific Water Ministers Forum (APWMF) held in conjunction with the Singapore International Water Week.
There will be a welcome ceremony at the Istana on 28 June 2010 for President Nasheed, followed by a meeting with Prime Minister Lee and a call on President S R Nathan. Prime Minister Lee will also host President Nasheed to lunch. President Nasheed's programme includes visits to Singapore Airport Terminal Services' (SATS) Coolport @ Changi facility, and the National Orchid Garden where he will name an orchid.
President Nasheed will be accompanied by Minister of Foreign Affairs Ahmed Shaheed, Minister of Housing, Transport and Environment Mohamed Aslam, President of Male Municipality Adam Maniku, and senior officials.
