MFA Press Statement: Visit of His Highness Sayyid Harib Bin Thuwainy Al-Said of the Sultanate of Oman to Singapore for the arrival of the Jewel Of Muscat, 30 June – 6 July 2010

His Highness Sayyid Harib Bin Thuwainy Al-Said is visiting Singapore from 30 June to 6 July as the representative of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos Bin Said of the Sultanate of Oman. His Highness Sayyid Harib will attend a welcome ceremony and a gala dinner for arrival of the Jewel of Muscat. In addition, His Highness Sayyid Harib will call on President S R Nathan and Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, receive calls by Minister for Foreign Affairs George Yeo and Minister for the Environment and Water Resources Yaacob Ibrahim, and be hosted to a reception at the Malay Heritage Centre by Senior Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Zainul Abidin Rasheed. His Highness Sayyid Harib will also be visiting the Tang Treasure, which was acquired by the Singapore government through the gracious support of the Estate of Tan Sri Khoo Teck Puat.

The Jewel of Muscat is a gift from the Sultanate of Oman to the Government and People of the Republic of Singapore. The Jewel of Muscat set sail from Oman on 16 February and has called at ports in India, Sri Lanka and Malaysia en route to Singapore. The Jewel of Muscat is scheduled to arrive in Singapore on 3 July 2010.
