MFA Press Statement: 43rd Asean Ministerial Meeting and Related Meetings, 19-23 July 2010, Hanoi

Minister for Foreign Affairs George Yeo will lead the Singapore delegation to the 4th ASEAN Political-Security Community Council Meeting, the 43rd ASEAN Ministerial Meeting (AMM), the annual Post Ministerial Conferences (PMC) with the ASEAN Dialogue Partners, and the 17th ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) in Hanoi, Vietnam from 19 July to 23 July 2010.

In Hanoi, the ASEAN Foreign Ministers will continue their discussions on how the regional architecture should further evolve with ASEAN at its core, and review progress of the ASEAN Connectivity Master Plan. They will also take stock of, and review, ASEAN's relations with its external partners.

The ASEAN Foreign Ministers will also meet their counterparts from the ASEAN+3 and East Asia Summit (EAS) countries [1] on 21 July 2010 to discuss ways to strengthen these key regional processes. During the PMCs on 22 July 2010, the ASEAN Foreign Ministers will meet their counterparts from Australia, Canada, China, European Union, India, Japan, New Zealand, Republic of Korea, the Russian Federation, and the United States, to discuss ways to enhance cooperation. Canada will also sign the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia (TAC) in Hanoi.

On 23 July 2010, the ARF Ministers will exchange views on key regional developments and review ARF's progress. They will consider ways to deepen cooperation among ARF countries through the Hanoi Plan of Action (PoA) to Implement the ARF Vision Statement.
