This afternoon, His Highness Sayyid Harib met with President S R Nathan and Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong at the Istana. His Highness Sayyid Harib had warm and friendly discussions on the Jewel of Muscat project with our leaders. Our leaders conveyed Singapore's appreciation to His Majesty Sultan Qaboos Bin Said for his decision to present the Jewel of Muscat as a gift to the people of Singapore. During the meetings, both sides agreed that Singapore and Oman had much in common, and should continue to explore new areas of cooperation. Both also agreed that the voyage of the Jewel of Muscat from Oman to Singapore served as a useful reminder of the historical ties between our two regions.
His Highness Sayyid Harib will attend the welcome ceremony for the Jewel of Muscat on Saturday, 3 July 2010. Senior Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Zainul Abidin Rasheed will also host His Highness Sayyid Harib to a reception at the Malay Heritage Centre on Sunday, 4 July 2010.
