MFA Press Statement: Official Visit Of Indonesian Foreign Minister Dr Marty Natalegawa

Indonesian Foreign Minister Dr Marty Natalegawa is in Singapore for an introductory visit. Earlier today, Foreign Minister Marty paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong. Prime Minister Lee expressed satisfaction at the present state of warm relations between our two countries. In response, Foreign Minister Marty reaffirmed Indonesia's commitment to further strengthen bilateral co-operation between the two countries.

Foreign Minister Marty also met with Minister for Foreign Affairs George Yeo. They reviewed the good progress made in bilateral relations and explored ways to further strengthen collaboration between Indonesia and Singapore. Foreign Minister Marty and Minister Yeo also exchanged views on the challenges faced by the region and ASEAN in the years ahead. In this regard, both Ministers agreed to continue to work closely together to advance ASEAN's interests during Indonesia's ASEAN Chairmanship in 2011.

Foreign Minister Marty also toured the Sumatra: Isle of Gold Exhibition at the Asian Civilisations Museum. This evening, Minister Yeo will host Foreign Minister Marty and his delegation to a buka puasa (break fast) meal.
