Minister for Foreign Affairs George Yeo, who is a member of the Nalanda Mentor Group in his personal capacity, expresses Singapore's welcome for the passage of the Nalanda University Bill 2010 on 26 August 2010 by the Lok Sabha, the Lower House of the Indian Parliament. The Bill was passed, just a few days before, by the Rajya Sabha, the Upper House. With this Act of the Indian Parliament, Nalanda International University is legally established and the Mentor Group becomes the Interim Governing Board, which will draw up the statutes and appoint key office bearers to the University.
