Dear Prime Minister I am saddened to learn of the terrible destruction caused by the earthquake which struck Christchurch on the early morning of 4 September 2010. On behalf of the Government of Singapore, I would like to extend our deepest sympathies to the people of Christchurch who have been affected by the earthquake. I am confident that under your steadfast leadership, the reconstruction efforts will be swift and that the city will return to normalcy before long.
