Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Karim Massimov, who is in Singapore on an official visit, today paid a courtesy call on President S R Nathan at the Istana. During the call, both leaders reaffirmed the friendly relations between Kazakhstan and Singapore. Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong hosted a lunch in Prime Minister Massimov's honour.
Yesterday, Minister for Foreign Affairs George Yeo hosted Prime Minister Massimov to breakfast. Prime Minister Massimov called on Prime Minister Lee, during which the two leaders exchanged views on the global financial crisis and discussed ways to strengthen bilateral economic ties. Prime Minister Massimov had a meeting with Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew to discuss Singapore's developmental experiences and opportunities to expand bilateral cooperation.
Prime Minister Massimov also visited the Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School, Jurong Island, the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organisation (SEAMEO) Regional English Language Training Centre, and the Marina Bay Sands Integrated Resort.
