MFA Press Statement: State Visit of the President of the Republic of Panama, Ricardo Martinelli Berrocal, to Singapore, 17-19 October 2010

The President of the Republic of Panama Ricardo Martinelli Berrocal will make a State Visit to Singapore from 17 to 19 October 2010 at the invitation of President S R Nathan. During the visit, President Martinelli will call on President Nathan and meet Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong. Apart from the State Banquet President Nathan will host in President Martinelli's honour, Minister for Trade and Industry Lim Hng Kiang will host President Martinelli and his delegation to a working lunch with prominent Singaporean businessmen. President Martinelli will also visit the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) College West and the SMRT Headquarters for briefings on our technical education curriculum and Mass Rapid Transit system respectively.

During the visit, Minister George Yeo will sign the Singapore-Panama Avoidance of Double Taxation Agreement with his Panamanian counterpart Vice-President and Foreign Minister Juan Carlos Varela.
