MFA Press Statement: Official Visit of His Excellency Xi Jinping, Vice President of the People’s Republic of China, 14-16 November 2010

The Vice President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping is making an official visit to Singapore from 14-16 November 2010. This is Vice President Xi's first visit in his current capacity.

During the visit, Vice President Xi will call on President S R Nathan. He will also meet Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, after which they will jointly witness the signing of a number of bilateral agreements. This will be followed by a welcome dinner hosted for Vice President Xi by Prime Minister Lee. Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong and Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew will also meet Vice President Xi. Vice President Xi and Senior Minister Goh will be the guests-of-honour at a lunch jointly organised by the Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce & Industry and Business China. Deputy Prime Minister Wong Kan Seng will also host Vice President Xi to dinner.

Vice President Xi will jointly officiate the groundbreaking ceremony for the China Cultural Centre with Senior Minister Goh and unveil the Deng Xiaoping Commemorative Marker with Minister Mentor Lee. These are two of the commemorative events celebrating the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Singapore and China.
