MFA Press Statement: Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong's Bilateral Meetings at the Sidelines of the G-20 Summit, Seoul, Republic of Korea,12 November 2010

Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong separately met with Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, Mexican President Felipe Calderon and Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan on the sidelines of the G-20 Summit in Seoul.

President Calderon updated Prime Minister Lee on Mexico's preparations for the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) 16th Conference of the Parties (COP-16) to be held in Cancun in December 2010. Both Leaders agreed that bilateral relations are good and there is scope for both countries to further enhance bilateral economic cooperation.

In their meeting, Prime Minister Lee and Prime Minister Erdogan reaffirmed the good relations between Singapore and Turkey. Both leaders affirmed the importance of maintaining regular bilateral exchanges at all levels. Prime Minister Lee invited Prime Minister Erdogan to Singapore to see first hand the developments taking place to Singapore and in the region.

Earlier in the morning, Prime Minister Lee attended an ASEAN coordination meeting hosted by Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung in his capacity as the ASEAN Chair. The Leaders discussed key issues on the G-20 agenda and areas where ASEAN could contribute to the G-20, such as development and international trade. The Leaders affirmed the importance of the ASEAN Chair participating at future G-20 Summits.
