Dear President Rajapaksa,
I am deeply saddened to learn of the terrible devastation caused by the floods in Sri Lanka. I extend our most heartfelt condolences and sympathies to the families of those who have lost their lives and those who have lost their homes and in many instances their next rice harvest.
Our thoughts are with the Sri Lanka people during this difficult time. Your government has taken quick action in relief and rescue efforts, and I am confident that the country will overcome this disaster with fortitude. Singapore stands ready to help to alleviate the suffering, where we can be of assistance.
