Following the ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Road Trip through Thailand, Laos and China, Minister for Foreign Affairs George Yeo attended the ASEAN-China Foreign Ministers' Meeting in Kunming, China on 25 January 2011. There were discussions on regional and international developments, including a briefing by Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi on President Hu Jintao's recent visit to the United States.
2 In addition, the Foreign Ministers took stock of the breadth and depth of existing ASEAN-China cooperation and agreed to further strengthen this through a series of activities to commemorate the 20th anniversary of ASEAN-China relations and a Commemorative Summit at the 14th ASEAN-China Summit in October 2011. The Foreign Ministers noted the need to continue to enhance maritime connectivity, in addition to land connectivity, both within ASEAN and with China. They also noted the need to ensure the implementation of the ASEAN-China FTA, and to further develop social and cultural exchanges including increased tourism, as well as cooperation in non-traditional security.
3 The ASEAN Foreign Ministers were hosted to a banquet lunch by Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi and to dinner by the Party Secretary of Yunnan Bai Enpei.
