MFA Press Statement: Visit by Senior Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Zainul Abidin Rasheed to Beijing, China, 26 January 2011

Senior Minister of State (SMS) for Foreign Affairs Zainul Abidin Rasheed visited Beijing on 26 January 2011. In Beijing, he was hosted to lunch by the People's Republic of China State Administration for Religious Affairs (SARA) Director Wang Zuoan and paid a courtesy call on People's Republic of China State Ethnic Affairs Commission (SEAC) Vice Minister Danzhu Angben.

During his meeting with the officials, SMS Zainul was briefed on China's policies on handling its ethnic and religious minorities as well as how the SEAC and SARA coordinated with various agencies to maintain harmony between different ethnic and religious groups. Separately, SMS Zainul hosted dinner for Chinese academics to better understand China's strategy towards the Middle East and Africa.

Prior to his visit to Beijing, SMS Zainul visited the Tianjin Eco-city on 25 January 2011 with the Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco-city Ministerial Committee.
