President of the Republic of Austria Dr Heinz Fischer will make a State Visit to Singapore from 20-22 February 2011, at the invitation of President S R Nathan. This will be the first State Visit from Austria that Singapore will host.
President Fischer will be accompanied by his wife, Mrs Margit Fischer, and an official delegation comprising Federal Minister for European and International Affairs Dr Michael Spindelegger, Federal Minister of Health Mr Alois Stöger, Federal Minister for Science and Research Dr Beatrix Karl, members of the Austrian Parliament and senior officials. Also accompanying the Austrian President will be delegations comprising representatives of Austrian cultural and educational institutions, businesses and media.
President Fischer will pay a courtesy call on President Nathan and meet Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong on 21 February 2011. President and Mrs Nathan will host a State Banquet in honour of President and Mrs Fischer that evening. During his stay in Singapore, President Fischer will also attend the Singapore-Austria Economic Forum, and visit Fusionopolis, National Museum, ArtScience Museum as well as Nanyang Technological University.
