In response to media queries on the situation in Bahrain, the MFA Spokesman said:

"We have been monitoring the situation in Bahrain closely following clashes between protesters and security forces in Manama earlier today. Our Embassy in Riyadh has been in close contact with the Singaporeans in Bahrain. We have advised them to be on high alert, monitor the news closely and avoid large gatherings. They should also take all necessary precautions for their personal safety. Singaporeans who require consular assistance should contact the Singapore Embassy in Saudi Arabia, Riyadh or the MFA Duty Officer (24-hours) at:
