MFA Spokesman's Comments in response to media queries on the earthquake yesterday in Myanmar

In response to media queries on the earthquake yesterday in Myanmar, the MFA Spokesman said:

Our Embassy in Yangon is in touch with the Myanmar authorities to ascertain if any assistance is required. We understand that the Myanmar Red Cross as well as UN agencies are currently working with the Myanmar authorities on a joint damage assessment.

We are also in the process of contacting the Singaporeans in the area affected by the earthquake. As of 2100 hours, we have not received any reports of Singaporeans injured in the earthquake. We will continue to be in touch with Singaporeans in the affected regions and render consular assistance, if necessary. Singaporeans who require consular assistance may contact the Singapore Embassy in Yangon or the MFA Duty Officer (24-hours) at:
