Singapore Minister for Foreign Affairs K Shanmugam, who is currently in Brunei for his introductory visit, had an audience with His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah on 11 July 2011. His Majesty expressed satisfaction at the excellent and warm relations between Brunei and Singapore, as well as the extensive people-to-people exchanges at various levels between the two countries.
Prior to the audience, Minister Shanmugam was hosted to lunch by His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade. Both Ministers had a good exchange of views on bilateral relations as well as developments in ASEAN and the region.
The affirmation of the close ties between Singapore and Brunei was a common theme in the meetings between Minister Shanmugam and prominent Bruneian personalities including Speaker of the Legislative Council Pehin Isa Ibrahim, and Minister of Home Affairs Pehin Badaruddin Othman.
Second Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Pehin Lim Jock Seng will be hosting a dinner in honour of Minister Shanmugam, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Masagos Zulkifli and members of the Singapore delegation.
Minister Shanmugam will return to Singapore on 12 July 2011.
