Minister for Foreign Affairs K Shanmugam, who is in Manila for his introductory visit, met with and was hosted to lunch by the Philippine Secretary of Foreign Affairs Albert F. Del Rosario today. Both Ministers reaffirmed and expressed confidence in the warm and multi-faceted relations between Singapore and the Philippines. They also had a good exchange of views on bilateral cooperation, as well as developments in ASEAN and the region. Earlier in the day, Minister Shanmugam laid a wreath in honour of Philippine national hero Jose Rizal at the Rizal Park.
During the visit, Minister Shanmugam also met with a number of Cabinet Secretaries, business leaders and other prominent personalities to discuss developments in the Philippines, as well as regional and international issues.
Minister Shanmugam returns to Singapore this evening.
