MFA Spokesman's comments in response to media queries on the terrorist attacks in Eilat, Israel, and on the situation in Syria

In response to media queries on the terrorist attacks in Eilat, Israel, the MFA Spokesman said:

"Singapore unequivocally condemns all acts of terrorism. What is of particular concern is that these attacks appear to be somehow connected with the ongoing political transition in Egypt which has created new uncertainties in the Sinai. If this is true, these attacks may portend a new period of enhanced threats and tensions in the region."

When asked about the situation in Syria, the MFA Spokesman added:

"The deteriorating situation in Syria is of serious concern. We are monitoring the situation closely in view of the presence of some Singaporeans there. We hope that there will be a quick, just and definitive resolution of the situation in Syria that will end the violence and pave the way for the restoration of long-term stability."
