MFA Press Statement: State Visit of the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam His Excellency Truong Tan Sang, 28 September 2011

President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam His Excellency Truong Tan Sang met with Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong who also hosted him to lunch at the Istana today. During the meeting, both leaders affirmed the strong bilateral ties and discussed ways to further strengthen cooperation in areas such as trade, investment, education, tourism, as well as in ASEAN, APEC and other international fora.

Following the meeting, Prime Minister Lee and President Sang witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on the feasibility study of a new Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Park in Vietnam.

Earlier this morning, President Sang and his spouse Madam Mai Thi Hanh visited the Singapore Botanic Gardens where an orchid was named in their honour. President Sang also unveiled the Ho Chi Minh Statue and Commemorative Marker at the Asian Civilisations Museum Green.

President Sang concluded his three-day State Visit today and departed for Malaysia this afternoon.
