Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Foreign Affairs and Community, Youth and Sports Mr Sam Tan will be visiting Italy from 26 September to 1 October 2011 in conjunction with his attendance at the Second World Regions Forum that will be held in Milan from 28 to 30 September 2011.
The World Regions Forum was launched in 2009 by the Lombardy Regional Authorities, together with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Council of Ministers of Italy, to foster exchanges on best practices and cooperation among leading regional economies of the world in various sectors.
Prior to that, Mr Tan will be visiting Rome from 26-28 September 2011 to meet with his Italian counterpart, Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs Ms Stefania Craxi, to exchange views about current international developments and explore ways to strengthen relations between Singapore and Italy. He will also meet with Secretary of State for Economic Development Mr Stefano Saglia, Vice President of the Chamber of Deputies Mr Rocco Buttiglione, Chairman of the Chamber of Deputies' Foreign Affairs Committee Mr Stefano Stefani, and President of the Senate's Association of Friends of China Senator Giuseppe Menardi.
Mr Tan will be accompanied by Singapore's Ambassador to Italy Dr Loo Choon Yong and officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
