In response to media queries for updates on the boat incident in Mersing, Johor, the MFA Spokesman said:
"Search and rescue operations for the two missing Singaporeans are continuing today. Officers from the Singapore Consulate-General in Johor Bahru continue to render assistance to the next of kin of the missing Singaporeans, and are working closely with the Malaysian authorities in their search efforts. Singapore's Consul General (CG) in Johor Bahru Mr Lim Hong Huai has also expressed his appreciation to the Malaysian authorities for their efforts in assisting the Singaporeans affected by the boat accident. He has also requested the Malaysian authorities to continue their search and rescue efforts for the two missing Singaporeans for as long as they can do so, reiterating our offer of assistance in these efforts. "
