MFA Press Statement: Chief Minister of National Capital Territory of Delhi Mrs Sheila Dikshit meets Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong and Minister for Foreign Affairs K Shanmugam

Mrs Sheila Dikshit, Chief Minister of National Capital Territory (NCR) of Delhi, met Emeritus Senior Minister (ESM) Goh Chok Tong today, 5 October 2011 and Minister for Foreign Affairs K Shanmugam on 3 October 2011. During the meetings, they reaffirmed the excellent state of bilateral relations. They discussed the potential for collaboration between Singapore and Delhi NCR, particularly in the fields of vocational skills development and urban development. Mrs Dikshit praised Singapore as a model for development, expressing the desire of the Delhi government to study and adapt for Delhi NCR the achievements of Singapore in urban planning, water resource management and skills development. ESM and Minister Shanmugam congratulated Mrs Dikshit on her achievements in improving Delhi's urban environment.


Mrs Dikshit was in Singapore from 3 to 5 October 2011 on a study visit. She was accompanied by Mr Ramakant Goswami, Delhi Minister of Industry, Labour and Environment, Mr Praveen Kumar Tripathi, Chief Secretary of Delhi, and officials from the Delhi Department of Training and Technical Education. The delegation met Minister for Education Heng Swee Keat on 4 October 2011, and visited ITE College East (Simei), the Marina Barrage, URA and HDB Hub.
