MFA Press Statement: Official Visit of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Of Education Of Malaysia Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, 24-25 October 2011

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education of Malaysia Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin called on Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong earlier today at the Istana.

 

PM Lee and Tan Sri Muhyiddin noted the good state of bilateral relations and looked forward to greater bilateral cooperation. Tan Sri Muhyiddin expressed appreciation for PM Lee's efforts in resolving the longstanding Points of Agreement (POA) issue on Malayan Railway Land in Singapore as well the smooth handover of the waterworks under the 1961 Water Agreement to the Johor water authorities free of charge and in good working condition. They also had a good exchange of views on the state of the global economy and developments in ASEAN and the region.

Tan Sri Muhyiddin also met with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs Teo Chee Hean and was hosted to lunch by Minister for Education Heng Swee Keat. Tan Sri Muhyiddin also attended briefings by the Ministry of Education, National Environment Authority and Singapore Tourism Board. Tan Sri Muhyiddin will return to Kuala Lumpur this evening after attending a dinner hosted by Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean.
