Minister for Foreign Affairs K Shanmugam called on the Vietnamese Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Binh Minh on 8 September 2011. During the meeting, both Ministers reaffirmed and expressed confidence in the strong and multifaceted relations between Singapore and Vietnam. They discussed ways to expand bilateral cooperation particularly in the areas of trade, investment and tourism. They also exchanged views on ASEAN and other regional developments.
Minister Shanmugam then called on Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung. Prime Minister Dung expressed satisfaction with the current state of bilateral relations and reaffirmed the importance of further enhancing relations. They also discussed ways to strengthen cooperation in the regional and multilateral fora.
