MFA Spokesman's Comments in response to media queries on the status of Singaporeans in Bangkok, Thailand (17 October 2011)

In response to media queries for an update on the status of Singaporeans in Bangkok, the MFA Spokesman said:

 

"MFA has been closely monitoring the flooding in parts of Thailand, including some areas in the northern and eastern parts of Bangkok. Our Embassy in Bangkok has been keeping in close touch with Singaporeans in the affected areas who have registered with us and they are safe. We urge Singaporeans intending to travel to or in Thailand to closely monitor the local news and heed the instructions of the local authorities. We strongly urge Singaporeans travelling to or in Thailand to eRegister with MFA at http://eregister.mfa.gov.sg. This will allow us to keep you updated on latest developments and contact you should there be a need to do so. You are also encouraged to purchase comprehensive medical and travel insurance."
