Prime Minister of the Republic of Estonia Mr Andrus Ansip, who is on his first visit to Singapore, called on Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong at the Istana yesterday evening. The meeting was followed by a working dinner that PM Lee hosted for PM Ansip and his delegation. The two leaders affirmed the friendly ties between Estonia and Singapore and agreed that, as two small open countries, it was in our mutual benefit to work closely together. They also agreed that there was much scope to expand bilateral cooperation in the economic field as well as in information and communications technology.
Earlier in the day, PM Ansip was given a briefing on the Singapore economy at the Ministry of Trade and Industry.
Today, PM Ansip will visit the Urban Redevelopment Authority, Port of Singapore Authority and Jurong Island. He will attend a networking lunch hosted by the Singapore Business Federation (SBF), which will be attended by Singapore and Estonian businessmen, before delivering the keynote address at the Singapore-Estonia Business Forum organised by SBF. In the afternoon, he will pay a courtesy call on President Tony Tan Keng Yam.
