Acting President J Y Pillay and Acting Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean have sent condolence letters to Philippine President Benigno S Aquino on the loss of life and damage caused by Tropical Storm Washi. The condolence letters are attached. The Singapore Government had earlier announced that it would contribute S$50,000 to the Philippines through the Singapore Red Cross to support the relief efforts there.
