Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister for Law K Shanmugam, who is in Myanmar for his introductory visit, met with Myanmar Presidential Advisors U Ko Ko Hlaing, U Sit Aye, and Dr Sein Hla Bo today for a wide-ranging discussion on recent developments in Myanmar, its development priorities, and its engagement of the international community.
This afternoon, Minister Shanmugam handed over a tube well to Yangon Region Chief Minister U Myint Swe in Kawhmu Township in the Yangon Region. The Singapore Government funded the construction of 385 tube wells in the Ayeyarwaddy Delta in partnership with Mingalar Myanmar, a local non-government organisation, as part of our US$5 million post-Cyclone Nargis humanitarian assistance to Myanmar.
Minister will meet the Singaporean community in Myanmar this evening over dinner.
