MFA Press Statement: Visit of Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Home Affairs Masagos Zulkifli to Busan

Minister of State (MOS) for Foreign Affairs and Home Affairs Masagos Zulkifli headed the Singapore delegation attending the 4th High Level Forum on Aid Effectiveness (HLF-4) in Busan, the Republic of Korea. The HLF-4 is a major international conference convened to review the impact and effectiveness of aid and development assistance to help developing countries attain the Millennium Development Goals. Some 3,000 people from 160 countries, 70 international organizations and 300 civic groups attended the HLF-4, which was opened by United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon, Secretary of State of the United States of America Hillary Clinton and Queen Rania of Jordan.

 

On the sidelines of the conference, MOS met Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea Kim Sung-Hwan. MOS also had a series of meetings with the heads of delegations from El Salvador, Ghana, Georgia, Iraq, Kenya, Rwanda, Samoa and the Caribbean Community, including Kenyan Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Uhuru Kenyatta, Minister of Foreign Affairs of El Salvador Hugo Roger Martinez, Rwandan Minister of Finance and Economic Planning John Rwangomba and Samoan Minister of Finance Faumina Tiatia Liuga. MOS also met Executive Secretary of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) Noeleen Heyzer.
