MFA Press Statement: Official Visit Of His Excellency Ban Ki-Moon United Nations Secretary-General and Mrs Ban Soon-Taek 22 – 23 March 2012

United Nations Secretary-General (UNSG) Ban Ki-moon will make an official visit to Singapore from 22 to 23 March 2012, at the invitation of Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong. Mr Ban will be accompanied by his wife Mrs Ban Soon-taek, Under-Secretary-General and Executive Secretary of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific Ms Noeleen Heyzer and senior officials from the UN. This will be Mr Ban's first official visit to Singapore as UNSG.


 

Mr and Mrs Ban will call on President and Mrs Tony Tan Keng Yam. Mr Ban will also meet Prime Minister Lee. Prime Minister and Mrs Lee will host a dinner in honour of Mr and Mrs Ban.


While in Singapore, Mr Ban will also be hosted to lunch by Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong, and meet Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister for Law K Shanmugam. Mr Ban will deliver the inaugural IISS Fullerton Lecture organised by the International Institute for Strategic Studies (Asia) and visit the NEWater Visitor Centre.
