Minister for Foreign Affairs of Italy Mr Giulio Terzi Di Sant'Agata made an official visit to Singapore from 1 to 2 March 2012 at the invitation of Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister for Law Mr K Shanmugam.

Mr Terzi called on and was hosted to an official dinner by Minister Shanmugam on 1 March 2012. The Ministers reaffirmed the excellent bilateral relations between Singapore and Italy, and discussed ways to strengthen economic cooperation between the two countries. They had a wide-ranging discussion on issues such as the Eurozone crisis, developments in Italy and economic opportunities in Southeast Asia.

The two Ministers signed the Second Executive Programme of the Cultural, Scientific and Technological Agreement Between Italy and Singapore. The renewal of the Executive Programme signifies the commitment of both countries to further bilateral cooperation in the areas of education, arts and culture, youth exchanges, and science and technology.

Mr Terzi also paid a courtesy call on Deputy Prime Minister, Minister for Finance and Minister for Manpower Mr Tharman Shanmugaratnam in the evening of 1 March 2012.

On 2 March 2012, Mr Terzi will be hosted to breakfast by Minister for Defence Dr Ng Eng Hen, and pay courtesy calls on President Tony Tan Keng Yam and Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.
