MFA Press Statement: Visit of the Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia Dr Marty Natalegawa, 7 March 2012

Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia Dr Marty Natalegawa visited Singapore today to discuss preparations for the Singapore-Indonesia Leaders' Retreat in Bogor on 13 March 2012.



Foreign Minister Marty paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong this afternoon. He updated Prime Minister Lee on the preparations for the Retreat and reaffirmed Indonesia's commitment to strengthen bilateral cooperation. Prime Minister Lee said that he looked forward to meeting President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono next week, and to discuss how the two countries can expand bilateral ties.


Earlier today, Foreign Minister Marty called on and was hosted to lunch by Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister for Law K Shanmugam. The Ministers discussed arrangements for the upcoming Retreat, and ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation. They also discussed regional issues and international developments. Minister Shanmugam congratulated Indonesia on its successful Chairmanship of ASEAN in 2011.
