MFA Press Statement: Meeting between Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister for Law K Shanmugam and US Trade Representative Ambassador Ron Kirk on 25 April 2012

Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister for Law K Shanmugam met US Trade Representative Ambassador Ron Kirk over dinner on 25 April 2012. During the meeting, they reaffirmed the strong bilateral ties between Singapore and the US, underpinned by excellent bilateral economic relations between both countries. Minister Shanmugam welcomed the US’ increased engagement of the Asia Pacific in areas of trade and investment, with both sides noting the good progress made in negotiations for the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement. Minister Shanmugam and Ambassador Kirk discussed regional developments and explored areas where the US could assist ASEAN’s regional integration efforts.
