Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Latvia Mr Edgars Rinkēvičs will make an official visit to Singapore from 30 April to 2 May 2012 at the invitation of Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister for Law Mr K Shanmugam. This will be Mr Rinkēvičs’ first visit to Singapore. Minister Rinkēvičs will be accompanied by officials from the Latvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and a business delegation.
During his visit, Mr Rinkēvičs will meet Minister Shanmugam for bilateral talks, and attend an official dinner hosted by Minister for Transport and Second Minister for Foreign Affairs Mr Lui Tuck Yew. In addition, Mr Rinkēvičs will pay a courtesy call on Minister for Trade and Industry Mr Lim Hng Kiang, attend a briefing by the Public Service Division and Civil Service College on Singapore's public administration, and participate in a business networking luncheon hosted by the Singapore Business Federation.
On 2 May 2012, Mr Rinkēvičs will deliver a public lecture, entitled "Recent Developments in the European Union (EU) and Latvia", at the Asia-Europe Foundation.
