MFA Press Statement: Prime Minister of New Zealand the Right Honourable John Key calls on President Tony Tan Keng Yam and Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, 18 April 2012

The Prime Minister of New Zealand, The Right Honourable John Key, who is in Singapore for an official visit, called on President Tony Tan Keng Yam and met Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong today. Prime Minister Lee also hosted an official dinner in honour of Prime Minister Key.

During their respective meetings with Prime Minister Key, President Tan and Prime Minister Lee reaffirmed the warmth and strength of bilateral relations between Singapore and New Zealand, and agreed to explore ways to further enhance the business and economic ties between our two countries. They also had an exchange of views on regional and international developments and noted the strong cooperation between Singapore and New Zealand at international fora. Prime Minister Key took the opportunity to express his appreciation to Singapore for the assistance rendered in the aftermath of the Christchurch earthquake in February 2011.
