MFA Press Statement: Visit by Minister Of State for Foreign Affairs and Home Affairs Masagos Zulkifli to Uzbekistan 2 to 7 April 2012

Minister of State for Home Affairs and Foreign Affairs Masagos Zulkifli will visit Uzbekistan from 2 to 7 April 2012 to co-chair the Second Singapore-Uzbekistan Political Consultations with Uzbek Deputy Foreign Minister Oybek Usmanov in Tashkent.

The inaugural session of the Singapore-Uzbekistan Political Consultations took place in Singapore on 22 December 2010. The consultations were co-chaired by then-Senior Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Zainul Abidin Rasheed and then-Deputy Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan Anvar Salikhbaev.

While in Tashkent, MOS Masagos will call on First Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Rustam Azimov, Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulaziz Kamilov, Minister of Internal Affairs Bahodir Matlyubov, and Deputy Minister of Foreign Economic Relations,Investment and Trade (Asia-Pacific) Shavkat Tulyaganov.

During the visit, MOS Masagos will witness the signing of Memorandums of Understanding on training cooperation and collaboration on environmental protection. Besides Tashkent, MOS Masagos will visit the renowned historical and religious city of Samarkand, where he will present a customised Quran and rehal (Quran stand) to the Imam
Al-Bukhari Memorial Complex.

MOS Masagos will be accompanied by Singapore’s Ambassador to Uzbekistan (Non-Resident) Zulkifli Baharudin and officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
