MFA Press Statement: Call on Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong by United States Senators John McCain and Joseph Lieberman (1 June 2012)

Ranking Member of the US Senate Committee on Armed Services Senator John McCain (Republican-Arizona) and Chairman of the US Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Senator Joseph Lieberman (Independent-Connecticut) called on Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong at the Istana earlier this afternoon. During the meeting, PM Lee and the Senators reaffirmed the long-standing and excellent bilateral relationship between Singapore and the US. They also had a good discussion on regional and global developments.

Senators McCain and Lieberman are in Singapore to attend the 11th IISS Asia Security Summit, the Shangri-La Dialogue 2012. In addition to the call on PM, the Senators will also call on Minister for Defence Ng Eng Hen and will be hosted to dinner by Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister for Law K Shanmugam tomorrow.
