Joint Press Statement: Official Visit Of Deputy Prime Minister, Coordinating Minister For National Security And Minister For Home Affairs Teo Chee Hean To The People's Republic Of China, 4-6 July 2012

Deputy Prime Minister, Coordinating Minister for National Security and Minister for Home Affairs Teo Chee Hean will make an official visit to the People’s Republic of China on 4-6 July 2012 at the invitation of People's Republic of China Vice Premier Wang Qishan.

DPM will visit Beijing from 4-5 July where he will meet Vice Premier Li Keqiang and Communist Party of China International Department Minister Wang Jiarui. He will also be hosted to lunch by State Councillor Dai Bingguo.

DPM will visit Suzhou on 6 July to co-chair the 9th Joint Council for Bilateral Cooperation (JCBC) meeting with Vice Premier Wang Qishan. The JCBC is an annual high-level platform to review existing collaborations and explore new areas of cooperation. DPM and Vice Premier Wang will also co-chair the 14th Suzhou Industrial Park (SIP) Joint Steering Council (JSC) and the 5th Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco-city (TEC) JSC meetings on the same day. The SIP JSC and TEC JSC meetings will take stock of the progress and chart the future directions of these two flagship Government-to-Government projects. DPM will also make site visits to the SIP and TEC to witness first-hand the rapid development of these projects. He will meet Tianjin Party Secretary Zhang Gaoli and Jiangsu Party Secretary Luo Zhijun in Tianjin and Suzhou respectively.

DPM will be accompanied by Minister for Trade and Industry Lim Hng Kiang, Minister for Education Heng Swee Keat, Senior Minister of State for Information, Communications and the Arts, and the Environment and Water Resources Grace Fu, Minister of State for Trade and Industry, and National Development Lee Yi Shyan, Minister of State for Trade and Industry Teo Ser Luck, Minister of State for Finance and Transport Josephine Teo, Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Foreign Affairs, and Community Development, Youth and Sports Sam Tan and senior officials from various Ministries and government agencies.
