MFA Press Statement: Meeting between Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean and United Kingdom's First Secretary of State and Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs Rt Hon William Hague MP, 30 July 2012

Deputy Prime Minister, Coordinating Minister for National Security and Minister for Home Affairs Mr Teo Chee Hean met with the United Kingdom (UK)'s First Secretary of State and Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs Rt Hon William Hague MP at the sidelines of the London 2012 Summer Olympic Games on 30 July 2012. Foreign and Commonwealth Office Minister of State Jeremy Browne and other senior officials were also present at the meeting. DPM Teo is currently in London to support Team Singapore in his capacity as President of the Singapore National Olympic Council (SNOC).

DPM Teo and Mr Hague reaffirmed the strong bilateral relations between Singapore and the UK. They expressed satisfaction at the healthy state of bilateral cooperation and welcomed the early conclusion of the ongoing negotiations on the EU-Singapore Free Trade Agreement (EUSFTA).

DPM Teo and Mr Hague also discussed strategic regional and international issues such as developments in the Middle East, as well as tackling threats from cybersecurity and global terrorism.
